Nick Gaines - Managing Director

Nick Gaines Nick Gaines is Managing Director of Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems. Nick trained initially as a nuclear engineer with the CEGB where he worked in reactor physics and plant optimisation, he later moved into the airports sector where he led systems engineering activities for BAA including the Terminal 5 programme at Heathrow. In recent years he was a leading CIO in the automotive sector before returning to the nuclear industry to develop Ultra's nuclear I&C capability.

Chris Pritchard - Finance Director

Chris Pritchar5dChris is Finance Director at Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems and Global Business Services. Chris joined Ultra in 2012 from defence company Curtiss-Wright where he held a number of senior management roles including Group Controller and Finance Director (previously as Penny and Giles). During his tenure at Ultra, Chris has had number of positions including most recently, the Divisional Finance Director of Communications and Security. Chris is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and holds an MBA from Henley Business School.

Rikki Douglas - Sales and Marketing Director

Douglas High Resolution Files February 17 1Rikki Douglas is the Sales and Marketing Director for Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems. Rikki joined Ultra in 2012 as Global Sales Manager to lead sales, strategy and business development in the field of sensors and radiation monitoring. Specialising in radiation detection, health physics and reactor I&C, Rikki has more than 15 years' experience in the Nuclear Industry with a strong background in client facing technical sales, applications engineering, marketing, commercial and management roles. She holds an MPhys in Physics from the University of Lancaster, an MSc in Radiation and Environmental Protection from the University of Surrey and an MBA from The Open University.

Mark Ealing - Head of Strategy

Mark EalingMark Ealing is Head of Strategy for Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems. Mark is a Chartered Engineer and began his career in the nuclear industry developing equipment for the decommissioning of nuclear waste facilities, reactor monitoring equipment and reactor fuel manufacture.  He later moved into the airport industry where he led large system IT integration projects. In 1998 he joined Ultra Electronics as a Project Manager and has since held a number of senior management roles.  In 2006 Mark returned to the nuclear industry to spearhead the strategic business development aspects of the Ultra nuclear business.

Andy Russell - Director and General Manager, Sensors

Andy RussellAndy Russell, Director and General Manager for Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems. Andy originally trained within the contracts/commercial discipline with Marconi, he then went on to hold several senior commercial management positions in various companies before joining Ultra in 2004. In 2010 Andy took on his first General Management role before joining Nuclear Control Systems in January 2012.

Aubrey Barnett - General Manager, Systems

Aubrey BarnettAubrey Barnett is General Manager for the Systems Business Unit at Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems. Aubrey trained as a digital and communications engineer and has worked throughout his career in High Integrity Systems specialising in the delivery of complex design, production & support programmes and business management. The manufacturing services provided cover a wide range of specialist services essential to the supply and support of High Integrity Systems compliant with all key international quality standards.

Derek Jenkins - General Manager, CEMS

Derek Jenkins

Derek Jenkins holds an MBA from the Open University and was General Manager of Siemens Radiation Monitoring on its acquisition by Ultra Electronics in 2008, having worked in that business since 1995. After the formation of Nuclear Control Systems in 2012 he took on the role of Head of Operations and then managed Lab Impex Systems through the acquisition integration process before moving to CEMS as General Manager in July 2015.

Gary Hawkins - Engineering Director

Gary HawkinsGary Hawkins is Engineering Director at Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems. Gary was previously Engineering Director at Ultra Electronics Airport Systems where he led a number of key large system IT integration projects. In 2005 he joined Ultra Electronics after an early career in large scale programmes for the financial sector and has since held a number of senior management roles. Gary holds a BA in Chemistry from the University of Oxford.

Sue Racster - HR Manager

Racster Sue 13360iSue Racster is our HR Manager. Sue joined the Ultra Electronics HR Team in 2013 from a Dorset social enterprise business where she was Director of Operations. Since leaving University, Sue held various roles in education environments supporting schools and local businesses with enterprise and skills through personal engagement, seminars and training. During her time at NCS, Sue has been a steering group member for the development of the Nuclear Skills Passport ‘NS4P’ with the National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN) and a member of the NSAN Employer Group Trailblazer; developing new Standards for Apprenticeships within the nuclear industry. She also led accreditation for our Ultra Electronics Apprenticeship Scheme; awarded by the Nuclear Institute. The success of this scheme is demonstrated in 2017 as we are proud employers of The Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year and SME Apprentice of the Year.

Tim Moul - Head of Assurance

Moul Tim 13333Tim Moul is Head of Assurance for Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems. Originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer, Tim started his career in the automotive industry, first with Ford Motor Company and then with a world leading supplier of motorsport transmission systems. Tim joined Ultra in 2010 as Manufacturing Manager, and took up his current role in 2015. Passionate about process improvement, he is currently overseeing the redevelopment of the Quality Management System to meet the exacting requirements of the US NQA-1 Quality Standard. Tim holds a BEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Manufacturing Systems Engineering both from the University of Hertfordshire and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualification from Cranfield University.
