We have experience in providing complex design analysis to support legislation, the stipulated safety requirements and, for high integrity systems, the safety case. Most designs are subject to level of analysis to determine system availability and identify critical items. Our experience of failure rate prediction and repair time analysis on complex systems, allow the production of availability models capable of predicting system availability and down-time.
Plant operators need C&I system updates that functionally replace the existing system or parts of it and yet permit compatibility with future business and plant improvement strategy. Changes must minimise the impact on field wiring, on plant procedures and on the safety case. Ultra's has successfully developed modular solutions which interface to existing systems using the same field wiring, terminations and enclosure as the current system. The Company continues to develop C&I technology offering upgrades to existing nuclear power plants which test both engineering innovation and safety claims.
We are also capable of merging other systems into the overall control and instrumentation including mechanical handling, gas sampling and reactor trip hardware. This is achieved by utilising a dedicated team of programme managers, engineers and on-site manufacturing services together with a mature and tested nuclear sector supply chain.
